About Southern Iowa Deer
This will be our first year (2007) that we will be opening up our
land to guests. The hunting property management has been going on
now for 5 years. Our land has only been hunted on by family and
friends. You can see by the pictures of past years that we only take
big bucks and turkey.
This past year 2006 we have seen several deer in the 150 plus and
some up to the 180 - 200 class. We would prefer a hunter who is
looking for that 150 plus and leave the immature bucks grow.
Our properties are overseen/taken care of by a local friend/guide
who has been in the area all his life.
All aspects of promoting/enhancing the land for wildlife is in
effect and has been for 5 years now. We have seen a tremendous
change for the better with our deer and turkey populations as well
as other wildlife.
We have several food plots that include clovers, alfalfa, and
milo throughout. Adjacent farms have a tremendous amount of corn,
soybean and CRP ground available.
We have several one and two man ladder stands throughout for bow
season and muzzleloader/shotgun season weather permitting. For those
extreme cold days we have several stands totally enclosed with
heaters 20 ft ± of the ground that can accommodate no more than
three people.
All of our accommodations and food services are included. We have
several alternative destinations for those non hunters who may wish
to come along with the hunter. See our attractions button on home
